It’s that time of year, and the 1996 Staples Commercial comes to mind:

But it doesn’t really fit for everyone.

For some, kids are headed back to college or in to a final year or two of high school.  Filling the cart with school supplies is the least of the concerns, and it seems with all of the hours spent on summer jobs family time together this summer has been limited.

We liked having our young adults around and will miss those who are leaving or have already left town.  We also know the rest of our students will be buckling down for serious studies and will be busy with school work again.

Happy first day of school.

Here we are and its August 24th.  Tonight is the last night for a movie on the Great Lawn.  Sunset is at 7:41 with the movie beginning a little after that.  For the ninth straight week it looks like the weather is going to be great for an evening movie.

The show tonight is Guardians of the Galaxy.  As always, bring a lawn chair and a friend.  With the movie starting nearly an hour earlier than the first movie of the summer, you might bring your supper and settle in for the last summer movie of 2015.

This week the Monday Night Movie at the Great Lawn will be shown on a significantly larger screen.  This free upgrade is due to the limited number of movie screens available from Movies in the Moonlight.   Frank Zagarino1)Frank, who lives in Mattituck, has an interesting story of his own – it includes North Korea.Frank Zagarino has owned and operated Movies in the Moonlight since 2007.  We appreciate the fine service Frank has provided to our village this summer.  Frank and his employees are always reliable and courteous.

The movie this week is Maleficent, the story of Sleeping Beauty told from the perspective of the villain.  Sunset is at 7:51 p.m., the movie starts soon after.
